Maxwell Interior Designs team at work in KwaZulu-Natal
About Us

Built in Manguzi. Working across KZN.

Maxwell Interior Designs started with one idea: that KwaZulu-Natal homes deserve proper interior work done by people who care about the result.

Our Story

We started small. The work stayed consistent.

We started Maxwell Interior Designs in Manguzi with a small team and a simple principle: do every job as if the client is going to show it to ten people. Because they usually do.

Over the years we've worked our way across the province — from townhouses in Empangeni to family homes in Hluhluwe, from game lodge suites near Mkhuze to apartments in Durban. The brief changes but the standard doesn't.

Our core work is ceilings and custom wall units. These are the two things that change a room most dramatically for the money. A good LED tray ceiling and a properly-built TV wall can make an ordinary lounge feel like something you planned deliberately. That's what we build.

We also handle full interior fit-outs for homeowners and small commercial spaces who want one company to manage the whole job rather than coordinating three different contractors.

Maxwell Interior Designs founder

Maxwell

Founder & Lead Designer

Maxwell founded this business in Manguzi with one guiding principle — do every ceiling and every interior as if the client is going to show it to ten people. With over seven years working across KwaZulu-Natal, from the northern corridor to Durban, he oversees every project personally and won’t sign off until the finish matches exactly what was shown to the client.

How We Work

From first call to final handover

Five steps. No surprises. You'll know exactly where things are at every stage.

01

Consultation

We come to your property, see the space, and talk through exactly what you want. No charge for this — just a conversation.

02

Design & Quote

We put together a design plan and a clear, itemised quote. No vague estimates. If you want to change something before signing off, we adjust it.

03

Quote Approval

You approve the quote and we agree on a start date. We'll confirm material availability and give you a realistic timeline.

04

Build

We show up on the agreed date, do the work properly, and keep you updated. We clean up at the end of every day.

05

Handover

Final walkthrough together. If anything isn't right, we fix it before we leave. We want you to be happy showing people what we built.

What We Stand For

Our values

Honesty first

If something won't work in your space, we'll tell you. If a material is wrong for your climate or budget, we say so. We'd rather lose a job than do it badly.

Craftsmanship matters

Anyone can put up a ceiling. Getting the shadowlines straight, the joints invisible, the paint smooth as glass — that's the difference between a job and a proper job.

Respect for your home

We treat your home like our own. That means shoes off when needed, dust sheets down, and no mess left for you to deal with.

Local knowledge

We've worked in KZN homes long enough to know what materials hold up in the coastal heat and humidity and what doesn't. We build for the climate, not just the catalogue.
